Venus+ is a sans serif font family, each weight is inspired by forms induced by a technical process in use in the first half of the 20th century: The typewriter, the printing press for lead or wood, lapidary engraving, the painted letter . With the invention of photocomposition in the 1950s, then DTP, the design of letters was freed from the material constraints of character production.

Designed from the Venus, published by the Bauer Type foundry from 1907, the Venus+ family pays homage to the materials and techniques that have shaped typographic forms.
