Vitin is a variable font based on scans of the Wettin font, designed by Heinz Keune for Schelter & Giesecke in 1902. To make the font easily variable, some characteristics of the original font have been modified.
Vitin is the ancient name of the city of Wettin, according to a document dated 29 July 961 ("ubi inest Vitin civitas", in MGH, Diplomata, Konrad I-Heinrich I-Otto I, doc. 231, pp. 316-317) .
